24/7 News Source — President Trump's latest nominee to the federal bench isn't scoring many legal points.

Lawyer Matthew Peterson had difficulty answering even basic legal questions at his Senate hearing this week.

While being questioned by Louisiana Republican Senator John Kennedy, Peterson admitted he has never tried a jury, civil, criminal, bench, state or federal case. He also lacked basic knowledge of the law.

Video of his grilling by the Senate Judiciary Committee quickly went viral, drawing more than 3 million views.

Peterson is currently a member of the Federal Election Commission and also served as counsel to the Republican National Committee.
