Vanessa Hudgens reveals the struggles she faced dating ex Zac Efron

You just couldn't watch High School Musical without noticing the on screen passion that ignited off screen for Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron. But sadly, it was all rainbows and cakes in real life for the couple as Vanessa has revealed.

The movie made Vanessa and Zac household names overnight, and this became problematic for their relationship. 

Vanessa found that when you're dating one of the world's most sought-after guys, everyone else wants him, too.

The couple split up after four adorable years together, saying the decision was mutual. But one must wonder—what actually did happen?

Vanessa opened up in an interview with the New York Times, revealing it wasn't always easy dating Zac.

He was always bombarded with attention and affection from girls all over the world. She admitted the jealousy that came from this brought out the worst in her, and remembered a period in her life when she let the anger take over.

"I went through a phase when I was really mean because I was so fed up. Girls were running after him, and I was giving them death stares. Then I realized that's not what that's about," she said.

After realizing she didn't want to be a green-eyed monster, she ultimately felt it was best to part ways. 

While that's all a bit sad, luckily now Vanessa is in a happy relationship with Austin Butler and Zac, well he's free to be nabbed up by anyone that can handle the jealousy!
