Possibility Of Government Shutdown Looms

The possibility of a government shutdown is looming and House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi is putting the burden on Republicans.  The federal government runs out of money late Friday night without a spending extension.  In a Capitol event on Wednesday, Pelosi noted that Republicans control Congress and the White House.  Pelosi said Democrats have never supported a government shutdown.  Senate and House Republicans may need some Democratic votes to approve a spending extension.

Democrats are pushing hard for an extension of the Children's Health Insurance Program and protection for so-called Dreamers.
