Sydney's Best Vantage Points To See The Fireworks This NYE
December 21, 2017
When it comes to New Year’s Eve in Sydney, we’re pretty blessed to have a central location in which to celebrate, with some of the best views in the world.
An illuminated bridge, a sparkling Harbour, and more atmosphere than you could ever imagine in one place, Sydney Harbour is definitely what you want to be looking at when 2018 officially begins.
One thing that can ruin a night that good, is way too many people, crowding your view and lengthening your trip home.
SO, we’ve hand-picked the very best vantage points away from the craziness of Sydney CBD, so that you can plan your night right this New Year’s Eve… all you need to do is bring a picnic blanket.
Blues Point Reserve, McMahons Point
A popular spot, Blues Point Reserve can sometimes draw a younger crowd, but has exceptional views of the Harbour. Bring a picnic blanket and some snacks for a breathtaking night in one of the most beautiful spots in the world.
Pirrama Park, Pyrmont
This area has picturesque spots for BBQs and picnics as well as a sheltered bay and great views of Darling Harbour.
Illoura Reserve, Balmain East
This spot is described as ‘close to nature’ due to the lush greenery and features exquisite views of the city. Peacock Point is also close by, and has a sandy beach and tidal pool set amongst the cliffs.
North Head Manly
A little further away from the hustle and bustle of the CBD, North Head in Manly still provides views of the fireworks and is a spectacular vantage point. The plethora of bars and restaurants on hand may also help convince you.
Birchgrove Park, Birchgrove
From Birchgrove Park, you can see the western side of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, so you’re close enough to enjoy the festivities, but far enough to be out of the crowds.
Manns Point, Greenwich
Even further away from craziness of the CBD. Manns Point is a family friendly site with views over Darling Harbour and Barangaroo. It has obstructed views of Sydney Harbour Bridge, but that won’t stop you seeing the fireworks!
Coogee Beach
You won’t see Sydney Harbour Bridge from here, but they do have their own fireworks on the beach and plenty of atmosphere to enjoy. Ring in the new year barefoot by the beach!
Parramatta Park
Parramatta Park is a great option to ring in the New Year; with their very own fireworks display at 9pm and a stage with performances to keep you entertained throughout the evening.
