The National Guard and snipers are being called on to secure New Year's Eve celebrations in Las Vegas just months after the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history. Over 300,000 people are expected to pack Las Vegas' Strip to ring in the new year. To keep all those revelers safe, authorities are enlisting over 300 Nevada National Guard troops and 1,500 police officers.
There will also be snipers perched at high points and armored vehicles spread out across the area. On October 1st, a gunman killed 58 people and injured hundreds more by firing on a concert from his hotel room.
