Back in Nov. 2017, Matt Lauer was abruptly fired from the hit morning news show after allegations of sexual misconduct toward female employees were taken to NBC executives about him. Since the disgraced anchor left, the ratings of "The Today Show" soared through the roof, as Kotb filled into his spot. Now, she's officially the program's new anchor.

After this announcement was made, many began wondering how much money Kotb would be making in her new role. Lauer was making over $20 million per year, as the co-anchor of "The Today Show." However, The Hollywood Reporter claims that Kotb will be making $5 million in her new role, while Page Six states that she'll be earning about $7 million. Either way, it's way less than Lauer's previous pay.

Page Six adds that NBC sources said: “Hoda isn’t complaining about the money. She has landed the big job she always dreamed of, and most definitely deserves. Plus, Matt’s salary reflected the long time he was on the show — 25 years. If things go well, Hoda could ask for more next time if she re-ups her contract. But the figures underline the huge wage disparity at NBC News.”
