The eight season will be six episodes long and will wrap up the long running show based off of novels by George R. R. Martin. It is unknown if Martin will publish his next book The Winds of Winter before the show airs. It has was reported that the much-anticipated book would be ready in 2018, but the author has been writing at his own, slow pace. He also has plans for one more book in the A Song of Ice and Fire series titled A Dream of Spring. While HBO knows his plans for how the saga will ultimately end, it is unknown if the network will follow his vision, or create their own ending.
The hit show is nominated for 12 Golden Globes, and is expected to receive multiple nominations for the Emmy awards.
