“U.S. News & World Report” reveals their 2018 Best Job Rankings
Like last year, healthcare-related jobs dominate the overall list, taking up 47 spots out of 100
Did you make a New Year’s resolution to change jobs in 2018? Well, “U.S. News and World Report” may have just made your search easier. The mag just published their annual 2018 Best Job Rankings, judging careers across 15 categories, including best paying, as well as jobs in specific fields such as business or technology, looking at the most important aspects of a job, including growth potential, work-life balance and salary.
Like last year, healthcare-related jobs dominate the overall list, taking up 47 spots out of 100, but unlike last year, a job in the health field didn’t land at number one. Topping the list this year for Best Job Overall is Software Developer, the first time in four years that a healthcare-related job didn’t top the list. Coming in second this year is last year’s number one, Dentist, followed by Physicians Assistant.
Now, if money is the most important thing to you when looking for a job, you’re probably going to have to go back to school, because many of the top-paying gigs are also in healthcare-related fields. In fact, the number one Best-Paying Job is Anesthesiologist, at an average salary of $269,600, followed by Surgeon in second, Obstetrician and Gynecologist in third.
