Study: Repeated Hits To Head, Not Concussions, Might Cause CTE

A new study suggests football players can suffer long-term brain damage without having concussions.  

Researchers at Boston University say repeated head injuries can trigger the degenerative disease known as CTE, even if the injuries don't result in concussions.  

The lead researcher says the study provides the first experimental evidence to solidly say it's the hits, not concussions, that count for CTE. 

The study is published in the journal Brain.
