Things To Do With The Fam This Aussie Day!

Who’s ready to roll out of bed wearing their thongs, chuck some snags on the barbie, eat lamingtons and throw the footy around? With Aussie day around the corner (tomorrow), we can’t wait to kick up our feet and celebrate Aussie style.
If you don’t have any plans for the public holiday, we have your arvo sorted. Here are some events on for you and your fam!
1. Australia Day Brisbane Fireworks At South Bank
Celebrate this Australia Day at South Bank with your family, a picnic and free live music at River Quay from 11 am to 7.30 pm. To top it off, there will be a dazzling fireworks display from the banks of the Brisbane River from 7.30pm.
Location: South Bank Parklands
Times: From 11 am
2. Redcliffe Australia Day Festival
Head on down to the gorgeous Suttons Beach in Redcliffe for an easy-going, Aussie time. Australia Day in Redcliffe is free to attend and one the whole family can enjoy. There will be Live Music, A Lamington Eating Contest, Beach Cricket, Beach Volleyball, Giant Aussie Pong, Thong Throwing Challenges, Sidewalk Street and a Free Jumping Castle. This Aussie Day event will finish with a brilliant fireworks display from 7.30pm.
Location: Soutanes Beach, 15 Marine Parade, Redcliffe
Times: From 12 pm
3. Australia Day at the Cannon Hill Bowls Club
The Cannon Hills Bowls Club will be hosting a family Aussie day with a free Jumping Castle, Social Bowls, Cricket, Music, BBQ, Raffles and Prizes!

4. Australia Day Brisbane Cruises
Turn that exciting public holiday into a marked special occasion by boarding a boat and sailing down the Brisbane River to a backdrop of colourful fireworks. River cruise companies such as Kookaburra River Queens s offer scenic sailings with Buffets, Live Music and Costume Prizes included in your sailing.

5. Moonlight Cinema Summer Season
For something a little different this Australia Day, book yourself a spot on the green at the Moonlight Cinema. This summer movie festival does the rounds across Australia this month. On 26 January, it’s going true blue with a screening of Red Dog at its Brisbane outlet in New Farm Park outside Brisbane Powerhouse.
