Metallica Snubbed at 2018 Grammys

For all Metallica's incredible success as one of the biggest rock bands of all time, the band does not have a good record at the Grammys. 

Metallica was nominated for two Grammys this year, including Best Rock Song and Best Rock Album categories. 

Foo Fighters' "Run" beat out Metallica's "Atlas, Rise!" for best rock song. And War on Drugs' album A Deeper Understanding won out over Metallica's Hardwired...To Self-Destruct. 

No, Metallica didn't secure a nomination in the heavy metal category—a real head-scratcher there. 

Whether Metallica deserved to win anything at all is surely subjective, but the lack of attention doesn't give rock fans any hope that the Grammys will get its act together when it comes to rock and roll any time soon. 

Metallica's highly anticipated collaboration with Lady Gaga at last year's Grammys was widely considered a train wreck after actress Laverne Cox forgot to mention them in her introduction.

Then, of course, there was the matter of one of Gaga's dancers unplugging James Hetfield's microphone during that cringeworthy choreographed mosh pit at the start of the song. 

Overall, Metallica probably isn't complaining as much as its fans. The band has 23 nominations and 9 wins in its career.
