Iggy Azalea is back on the scene with her comeback track, "Savior," which features Migos rapper Quavo, and it's a tropical-charged cut off her sophomore effort, Surviving the Summer, that meets all the criteria of an easy listening earworm.
"Feel the weight of the world like I got a brick on me," she spits on the Verse Simmonds-produced track, which dropped on Friday (February 2). "Had a dance with the devil and he got a grip on me / I’m just trying to get to heaven, hope he got a ticket for me." Quavo appears on the three-and-a-half minute cut for hook duties as he croons about his hunt for a savior. "I've been lookin’ for a savior," he sings with the help of some auto-tune. "I've been lookin' for a savior/ I've been lookin' for a real one to hold onto."
I-G-G-Y spoke about the new cut in a video message on Twitter, admitting that it's way more about actually saving yourself than needing to look for a lover. "It is not a record about you needing a man or a woman to come and save you in a relationship," she said in the video. "It’s about you being your own savior and finding your own strength within yourself to figure it the f**k out. It's a really hard record for me to have written and I think it’s going to be one I really struggle to perform, too, just ‘cause I’ll probably wanna cry every single time."
Expect to hear "Savior" on Super Bowl Sunday as it'll soundtrack her Monster Products TV spot during the championship game between the New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles.
