A Checotah, Oklahoma, police officer is getting help from the town’s most famous country music export.

Carrie Underwood donated $10,000 of her own money to a GoFundMe page started to cover the medical expenses of Justin Durrett, Checotah assistant police chief and the singer’s childhood friend.

Durrett was on his way to work when he was ejected from his truck after it rolled off the road and then landed on him.

“It’s by the grace of God this man is alive. Not only alive but responsive,” reads the GoFundMe page.

The assistant police chief suffered a broken neck, bruised spine and other injuries that put him in the intensive care unit.

As of Tuesday (Feb. 20), $13,020 of the $20,000 goal had been raised on the GoFundMe.

A proud Checotah native, Carrie grew up going to church with Durrett.
