U.S. Men's Hockey Team Beats Slovakia To Advance To Quarterfinals

Team USA is moving on in the men's hockey tournament in PyeongChang. Ryan Donato scored two goals as the Americans defetated Slovakia 5-1 in their playoff qualifying match.  

Mark Arcobello, James Wisniewski, and Garrett Roe also lit the lamp and Troy Terry had three assists in the winning effort.  

Ryan Zapolski bounced back from a 4-0 loss against Russia and stopped 22-of-23 shots in net for the U.S. 

After a scoreless first period, Ryan Donato scored just 1:36 into the second period. 43 seconds later, James Wisniewski netted a powerplay goal, doubling the lead for Team USA.

Mark Arcobello added a goal at the 13:30 mark of the second, making it 3-0 USA.

Peter Ceresnak scored the only goal for Slovakia on the power play with 3:06 minutes remaining in the second. 

Garrett Roe and Donato each put a puck in the net during the third period, clinching Team USA's 5-1 victory. 

Team USA will take on the Czech Republic on Wednesday at 12:10 p.m. local time, making it a 10:10 p.m. ET start time on Tuesday night in the United States.
