Trump: I Would Have Run Into School During Shooting Even Without A Gun

President Trump hosted state governors at the White House to discuss plans to reduce gun violence on Monday morning. During the meeting, Trump continued his attacks against the armed Broward County Sheriff's officers who did not enter Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School when a 19-year-old former student opened fire, killing 17 people on Valentine's Day. 

According to The Hill, Trump told the group "I really believe I'd run in there even if I didn't have a weapon."

Trump also told the governors not to worry about the NRA because "they're on our side." 

Following the horrific shooting in Florida, the president has voiced support for banning bump stocks and raising the age to buy rifles from 18 to 21. The NRA rejected Trump's call to raise the age limit to buy certain guns. 

The president also suggested that schools should consider allowing teachers to carry guns, something that Washington state Governor Jay Inslee strongly disagreed with. The Democratic governor gave Trump an earful saying that teachers should not be "packing heat in first-grade classes."
