Kevin Smith Posted An Emotional Video After Suffering Massive Heart Attack

Writer and director Kevin Smith suffered a massive heart attack on Sunday night and was lucky to have survived. On Tuesday, Smith uploaded a video to Facebook from his hospital room updating fans on his condition and describing his scary ordeal. 

In the 19-minute video, Smith explained how he started to feel nauseous on Sunday night after filming the first of two comedy specials he is currently working on. He said he laid down on the floor and eventually threw up. He initially attributed his stomach pain to "bad milk." The theater he was filming at told the crowd attending the event that had Smith suffered food poisoning. 

He explained how he started to feel pressure in his chest and couldn't catch his breath but said he "never felt pain." Despite this, and his family's history of heart problems, he never thought he was having a heart attack. 

After a few minutes of suffering from shortness of breath, 911 was called an ambulance arrived. Smith thanked the first responders who were "very patient with a guy who was, never mind the heart attack, deathly afraid to lift his shirt up."

After paramedics attended to him and realized he likely had a heart attack, they rushed him to Glendale Adventist Hospital. Smith had nothing, but nice things to say about the hospital and its staff who he said were vital to saving his life. 

By the end of the video, Smith became emotional when he described how he felt "content" that he might die. 

"What a ride it's been," he said. "There was calm ... I was always afraid that I'd be terrified of dying ... I've seen people die. I like life, life worked out for me and I don't ever want to let it go. But in that moment, even though I was 47, I was like 'that'll do pig.' I felt like Babe."

He finished the video with some good news for his fans. He said that the doctors have cleared him to be released and he can go home.
