The 90th Academy Awards are taking place on Sunday, March 4th and Oscars will be handed out to the year's biggest actors, actresses, directors, and more, responsible for helping to put together 2018's biggest movies. But, who will they be thanking?
In 2015, Vocativ went back through the years and analyzed 1,396 Academy Award acceptance speeches, and came up with a list of the most thanked people by winners throughout the archived speeches on the Oscar website. And some surprising revelations came to light.
Many people who win awards thank God in their acceptance speeches, but according to Vocativ's report, God had been thanked only 34 times, compared to the 43 times director Steven Spielberg was thanked -- the most thank you's.
Chillingly, Harvey Weinstein was the second most-thanked person -- tied with God -- receiving 34 thank you's in various acceptance speeches. Following the controversy surrounding the film producer within the last year, we're betting no one will be hearing his name in any acceptance speeches this year.
Along these lines, of the 24 people who made it to this most-thanked list, there are only two women: Lord Of The Rings screenwriter Fran Walsh (with 18 thank you's) and TV producer/President of HBO Documentary Films Sheila Nevins.
