Harvey Weinstein Gold Statue With Casting Couch Pops Up In Hollywood

You have to give it to the street artists lately, they've really upped their game while trying to bring light to some of the most controversial topics in Hollywood ahead one of its biggest nights this weekend.

The latest art installation guaranteed to cause consternation in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences boardroom is a golden statue of Harvey Weinstein wearing an open robe and sitting on a "casting couch." 

Plastic Jesus, the same artist who was behind the naked Donald Trump statues last year, told The Hollywood Reporter that the Weinstein statue was a collaborative effort between him and the artist Joshua "Ginger Monroe. 

It was placed near Hollywood Boulevard and La Brea Avenue early Thursday, just four days before the Academy Awards are set to be held. 

Weinstein faces multiple claims of rape, intimidation and sexual harassment by a number of accusers. The producer has denied all accusations of non-consensual sex. 

Last week, in an spoof of the Oscar-nominated picture "Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri," a street artist took over three billboards near the theater calling out Hollywood for covering up predators in the industry. The black text on a red background called out the industry for its support of people like Harvey Weinstein and Kevin Spacey. The billboards read: 

• “And the Oscar for biggest pedophile goes to…” 
• “We all knew and still no arrests.”
• “Name names on stage or shut the hell up!”

The billboards, erected by the street artist who goes by the name Sabo, took over the signs early Wednesday morning. In the film, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, Frances McDormand plays a grieving mother who takes out advertisements aimed at the cops who she believes hasn't done enough to catch her daughter's killers. 

The 90th Academy Awards are set to be held at the Dolby Theare in Los Angeles, Sunday night at 5 p.m.
