A school in Britain has banned students from touching snow in an attempt to prevent snowball fights which could cause injuries according to Fox News. Ges Smith, who is the headmaster of the Jo Richardson Community School, explained that the ban was needed to protect the school from any lawsuits if a student got hurt.
“It only takes one student, one piece of grit, one stone in a snowball in an eye, with an injury and we change our view."
According to the Telegraph, Smith also explained that when students play in the snow their clothes get wet and become "unfit for school."
Other schools in Britain have banned snowball fights, but Richardson Community School is the only one that has banned touching snow outright.
“The rules are don’t touch the snow. If you don’t touch the snow you’re not going to throw it.”
While Smith was defending his rule, many people mocked the school on social media. One person tweeted the "snowflake society should build separate schools for their children."
I think the snowflake society should build separate schools for their children, and let the rest of society's children get on with doing, what children have been doing, since the beginning of time. Being children!

I think that they should just "let it go" and let kids have fun, but kids are not allowed to have fun anymore #letkidshavefun.

Even Piers Morgan spoke out against the ban, saying the rule will produce students who would be "unprepared for normal life."
A few people agreed with the blanket ban on touching snow because as one person tweeted, "we now live in an insurance claim society."
Yes it’s sad to ban snow ball throwing and handling in schools but we now live in an insurance claim society. There are many parents out there ready to make a claim. Children can always play in the snow outside school hours! #GMB

Another person pointed out that "if we didn’t live in such a compensation culture, where everyone wants to play the blame game, Headteachers wouldn’t be so scared to let the children explore!"
