A Virginia father is receiving both praise and criticism for how he punished his child after he was kicked off the school bus for bullying. According to WCNC, Bryan Thornhill made his son jog to school in the pouring rain to teach him a lesson. He uploaded the videos to Facebook, which have since been removed or made private.
Thornhill said he lives about a mile from the school and recorded his son jogging as he drove alongside him.
"Hey everyone, welcome to 'You better listen to your Dad 2018'," Bryan said at the beginning of his Facebook post. "My son has finally got in trouble on the bus enough to where he was kicked off the bus for three days because he was being a little bully which I do not tolerate, can't stand. Therefore, he has to now run to school, we're right about one mile from the school so all week he's got the experience of running."
After receiving some backlash for the first video, he uploaded a second video in which he defended his discipline techniques
"If you get your panties in a wad seeing a kid jog, well I feel sorry for you," he said. "You probably need a lap or two."
His punishment appears to have worked. Thornhill said his son has been acting"been much better," and his "teachers have approved of his behavior."
"This right here is called parenting... Teach your kids, don't be a friend, be a parent. That's what children need these days," Thornhill said.
One of the videos was reuploaded to the Facebook group WarriorCode, and was titled "Good Parenting." Most of the comments on the video are supportive of the father and defended his actions against people who commented they had issues with his form of discipline.
