Former Creighton basketball standout and current Cleveland Cavalier Kyle Korver will be stepping away from the court for awhile to be with his family after the passing of his younger brother.
On Tuesday, 27 year old Kirk Korver died after falling ill last week. Kirk, the youngest of the Korver boys, followed in the footsteps of his older brother and played high school ball in Pella, Iowa before heading to the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Kirk started in 50 of his 113 games at UMKC.
Kirk became ill last week, but no word on what happened to the 27 year old. Kyle left the team last week to visit with his family before returning to play in the Cavalier's Monday game. Kyle is now again on leave from the team in order to be with his family during this difficult time.
It is with great sadness that UMKC shares the passing of one of its student-athletes, Kirk Korver. A 2014 graduate, Kirk was an exemplary student-athlete. He defined kindness & hard work. Our hearts & prayers go out to the Korver family. He will be missed & forever loved. pic.twitter.com/6VzVGl8obK
