ZM's Secret Sound: Clues explained!

March 21, 2018

Santana just won $50,000 after she guessed that ZM's Secret Sound was in fact, chopsticks being rubbed together!

So how did she come to her conclusion? Here are all the clues explained:

CLUE 1 - “The secret sound is really hard, this is a clue don’t discard.”

Chopsticks are a solid object.

CLUE 2 - “Soundkeeper Gary didn’t make the sound, it was Soundmaker Barry this round. “

The secret sound was made by Hillary Barry, and chopsticks are round.

CLUE 3 - “The Secret Sound is SO RUDE”

Wooden chopsticks (in Japanese Waribashi 割り箸) you need to break apart to use. Some people rub them together as a matter of course, but this is only even needed if the chopsticks are so cheap that they are splintery. Doing this with good quality waribashi indicates that you think they are cheap, and therefore is an insult. It’s also considered rude not to use chopsticks in Japan.

CLUE 4  - Extended sound was released on two USB’s , here it is:

CLUE 5 - “Someone online is very close. Add half an on air guess and you’ll take home my treasure chest”

Someone online was very close with their guess: “Disposable (wooden) chopsticks breaking apart” on 28/02/2018 at 7:13:25 AM. Someone on air guessed “two coins rubbing together” on 27/02/2018 at 8am.

CLUE 6 – This image was zoomed in on a bundle of chopsticks at a chopstick factory:

CLUE 7 - This clue was found at savemybacon.co.nz:

The picture is of The Plastics, from Mean Girls. The Secret Sound chopsticks are not plastic, plastic chopsticks make a slightly different sound.

CLUE 8 - “It’s International Women’s Day, so here’s a clue. The Sound relates to a song written by a female.”

"Chopsticks" (original name "The Celebrated Chop Waltz") is a simple, widely known song for the piano. Written in 1877, it is the only published piece by the British female composer Euphemia Allen (under the pseudonym Arthur de Lulli).

CLUE 9 - The 360 Video - the video shows a man eating with chopsticks at 1 minute 42 seconds.

CLUE 10 - “No coins were harmed in the making of the sound.”

820 of you guessed something related to coins online. The Secret Sound has nothing to do with coins.

CLUE 11 - “To set the sound free you must be aware, the sound you seek is part of a pair.”

The Secret Sound is generally ‘free’. You need two chopsticks to make the sound.

CLUE 12 - A red dot. This is the symbol on the flag of Japan, where an estimated 25 billion pairs of disposable chopsticks are used every year.

CLUE 13You might have missed this, and it was there right from day one. The title for the Secret Sound Facebook page was ‘ZM”s Secret Sound’. A misplaced typo, or a great clue? The incorrect use of “ resembles a pair of chopsticks.
