Watch James Corden Pelt A Bunch Of Fruit At Shawn Mendes

Shawn Mendes is in the beginning stage of his promotional circuit for his new track, "In My Blood," and took to the Late Late Show with James Corden on Wednesday night (March 28) to offer up the debut performance of the track. However, the 19-year-old pop star also took part in a game of "Flinch," where the host pelted fruits and vegetables at him while he was behind a wall of glass. Holding a martini glass of milk (because he's underage), the goal of the game was to not, well, flinch and, let's just say, he was only mildly successful at it.
After fellow guests Hillary Swank and Zach Woods took their turns at the challenge, it was all down to Mendes. "I've spiced things up a little bit with avocado," Corden told Mendes, who nervously stood behind the wall. "They're soft and they're hard, so it depends how you're feeling at that time. You said to me earlier today, Shawn, you today me that you felt nervous because this is the first time you've performed your song on television. Do you feel more nervous now or less nervous than you did before?"
"I feel a little less nervous now, but I feel like it's coming any second now," Mendes admitted, adding that the suspense made him "really uncomfortable." "I feel like the avocado is coming any second now. It's too much suspense. Shoot it!" Scroll on below to see how exactly Mendes fared in the game as well as his debut performance of his new track off the follow-up to 2016's Illuminate.
If you like what you see, you'll be happy to know the pop star is scheduled for a week-long residency on the show beginning June 4. Throughout the week, he'll presumably perform a new song from his upcoming third studio LP every night and we're guessing that means a spring release is inevitable.
