Just a week before the release of Elton John's tribute LP, Revamp & Restoration, Lady Gaga has unveiled her cover of the rock titan's hit, "Your Song," off the duel album, which is due April 6.
On her cover of the track, Mother Monster keeps her rendition on the minimal side and leans on her good ol' vocals to make her way through the piano-charged instrumentation. Throughout the cut, Gaga lets her vocals soar high as she offers listeners strong belts and we're confident John would be proud. The pair previously performed the 1970 staple together during a medley performance at the 2010 Grammy Awards. Expect to see the pop star offer up another rendition of "Your Song" in classic Elton shades during his upcoming all-star Grammy tribute, I'm Still Standing, which is set to premiere April 10 on CBS.
John's forthcoming project is a loaded with two discs. While Revamp will feature cover tracks from the likes of Mother Monster, Miley Cyrus, P!NK, Demi Lovato, Mary J. Blige and more, Restoration will hear tracks covered by country titans like Stapleton, Miranda Lambert, and Maren Morris.
"It's always a huge compliment when an artist loves your song enough to take the time and effort to rework it," Elton John said according to a statement. "As songwriters, Bernie and myself are thrilled when singers we admire and respect as much as those on Revamp & Restoration choose to add their own unique twist in the process. It means that our music is still relevant and ultimately that our songs continue to reach new audiences. We're humbled and thank them all for their generosity."
It's an appropriate time for the release, considering that John announced that he will retire from touring at the conclusion of his upcoming 300-date "Farewell, Yellow Brick Road World Tour," which will start in Pennsylvania in September and wrap up in Dublin in June 2019.
