Thirty Seconds to Mars' fifth studio album, AMERICA, is set to be released on April 6th via Interscrope Records, and the band's frontman Jared Leto is celebrating by heading out on a cross country journey, kicking off on April 2nd.
What does this mean?! We're not talking about a tour here, because that's coming from the full band later in the summer. Jared is departing from New York City on April 2nd, and traveling across America by any means possible -- which includes trains, planes, cars, hitchhiking (YES, IF YOU SEE HIM ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD STOP AND PICK HIM UP), buses, Lyft rides, NASCAR pit stops, bicycles, and more. ANY means of transportation. And he's stopping in cities all across America during the course of one week, ending on April 6th -- album release day.
This is all in celebration of Thirty Seconds to Mars' new album AMERICA, and Jared plans to visit several unique destinations to showcase his native country, America (the name of the new LP). In addition, Mars Across America will be gifting fans popular genetic testing kit 23andMe along the journey, hoping to enlighten them about who they are and their connection with others.
On Instagram, Jared explained of the week-long trip, "Today we begin a journey to celebrate the release of our brand new album, available April 6th. I will hitchhike, walk, run, climb, bike and work my way across this beautiful country telling the story of America as we go."
AMERICA follows Thirty Seconds to Mars' 2013 album Love, Lust, Faith and Dreams. The new record features 12 new songs, including its lead single "Walk On Water," in addition to other previously released songs like "Dangerous Night" (which features production from EDM star Zedd), "Rescue Me," and "One Track Mind" which features rapper A$AP Rocky.
Thirty Seconds to Mars will kick off their 2018 summer tour on June 6th in Toronto, and stop in major cities across North America including Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, Philadelphia, New York, Miami, Houston, Dallas, Denver, San Francisco, Los Angles, and more, before ending in Phoenix on July 22nd.
