According to Associated Press, Dave Chappelle is getting sued by a man who claims that he was allegedly assaulted at one of his stand up shows, back in 2015.
Named Christian Englander, the man filed the legal documents on Friday (March 30) against the comedian and his presumed bodyguard. At the 2015 show in question, Englander threw a banana peel onstage, while Chappelle was performing on it. However, he said that there was no racial motivation behind his actions. Instead, Englander said that he was upset with something that the comedian said.
The man then faced charges of disturbing the peace and battery. However, these charges were soon dropped because Chappelle didn't want to take part in the prosecution. Now, Englander is saying that Chappelle's bodyguard hit him twice, while he was being restrained and removed from the show. Englander also added that the alleged assault wasn't documented in the police report. However, if the incident would've went to trial, it would've been addressed. Chappelle's publicist, Carla Sims, has yet to respond to the suit.
Knowing how the funny man operates, we wouldn't be surprised if Chappelle brought up this incident in a future stand up comedy show.
