Milo Ventimiglia Can't Name Three Mandy Moore Songs

Milo Ventimiglia just let down This Is Us fans during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. Ventimiglia was a guest on the show during its tapings in Los Angeles at the Wiltern Theater alongside Ricky Martin when Cohen challenged the 40-year-old actor to play a game of "Plead the Fifth."  Ventimiglia agreed, which pretty quickly turned out to be a huge mistake.

“On This Is Us, you were brought down by a malfunctioning slow cooker, but I hope you can survive this dysfunctional clubhouse pressure cooker,” Cohen said as he introduced the game. Survive the dysfunctional clubhouse pressure cooker Ventimiglia did not. He got off to a rough start, pleading the fifth on the first question. Ventimiglia jumped the shark, though, because he simply wasn't cultured enough to answer the final question. Ventimiglia's on-screen wife, Mandy Moore, started her career as a (iconic) pop singer, so, Cohen asked him to name three of her songs. It did not go well from there.

I don't want to say this is the most embarrassing thing that's ever happened to Milo Ventimiglia, but....it's the most embarrassing thing that's ever happened Milo Ventimiglia. Look, he gave it his level best. His level best just wasn't good enough for the goddess that is Mandy Moore.  “I think her album was called Candy,” he said, which counted for one song, even though her album was called So Real.  Moore's biggest hit of her pop career was called "Candy," so, close enough, I guess. Ventimiglia also remembered her single “Crush,” but he ultimately could not name a third song. “I know she was only like 15 when she was driving the Bug,” he said in reference to the “Candy” video.

While this is disappointing because Moore has a number of memorable songs, including a few tracks from her film career, it also hurts because Moore and Ventimiglia have developed a super close bond while filming This Is Us. If it was Jack Pearson up on that stage, there's no way he would have let Rebecca down like this. Watch Ventimiglia struggle through "Please the Fifth" below.

As Scott Ragowski of HQ fame would say, that was a savage question. Time to study up on your early aughts pop culture, Ventimiglia.
