A U.S. veteran and immigration activist is being reunited with his family in California after being deported to Mexico over a decade ago. Family and friends held a welcome home ceremony for Héctor Barajas in Compton this weekend. Barajas served in the U.S. military and had green card status, but was deported in 2002. While in Mexico, he created a safe house called "The Bunker" for other displaced U.S. Veterans needing healthcare, PTSD counseling and other services.
Congresswoman Nanette Barragán and Governor Jerry Brown helped secure Barajas' return as a U.S. citizen.
