J. Cole is giving back to his home state of North Carolina in a major way. The rapper is launching a music festival called the Dreamville Festival this September.
According to The Washington Post, Cole's Dreamville Records, as well as ScoreMore Shows have partnered up for the new event. It's all set to kick off on Sept. 15 in Raleigh, NC at Dorothea Dix Park. “We’ve been trying to put this festival together for a few years now,” said Cole’s manager and president of Dreamville Records, Ibrahim ‘Ib’ Hamad. “It’s just hard to come into a city and get the whole city to approve it and (get) behind you. So it was great that we took our time ... and really connected with the city (and) connected with the mayor.”
As many of the MC's fans know, Cole was raised in Fayetteville, North Carolina, though he was born on a military base in Germany, and he's always put on for his home. In fact, he still lives there. So, any fan who would like early-bird tickets to his very first Dreamville festival can buy theirs today (April 27). But first, they have to sign up at www.DreamvilleFest.com. Others who want to buy general tickets will have to wait until Monday (April 30).

Performers have yet to be announced. “It’s going to be a variety of different acts that we love or excite us,” Hamad added. “It’s something we want to build for years and years to come.”
This exciting news comes just one week after Cole's musically acclaimed KOD dropped. “This album came out with really no promotion; we announced the album before we even put out a single and the reaction has been incredible, probably the best reaction of any of his albums because he’s comfortable in who he is and he knows what he wants to say,” Hamad closed.
See ya'll in North Carolina in a few months!
