A man has officially been charged with attempting to extort money from comedian/actor Kevin Hart by threatening to publicly share video footage that he privately shot of the star engaging in sexual activity with a woman in a Las Vegas hotel room.

Associated Press is reporting that a 41-year-old named Jonathan Jackson was arrested and charged with the crime on Monday (April 30) in Los Angeles, California. He's since been behind bars with $100,000 bail. Los Angeles prosecutors say that Jackson tried extorting an unknown amount of money from Hart, back in August 2017. He then tried selling the X-rated video of the comedian and the woman, Montia Sabbag, to multiple celeb news sites.

Not too long after Jackson's charges were revealed, Hart went on Twitter and said, "Mind blown... Hurt... at a lost for words and simply in complete disbelief at the moment. WOW." Attorney Lisa Bloom, who represented Sabbag, also tweeted her reaction to the news. “Montia and I are delighted that the alleged extortionist is being brought to justice,” Bloom said. “As a crime victim in this case, Montia has fully cooperated with the police since the beginning.” See those messages below.

Back in September, Hart went on Instagram to publicly apologize to his wife and kids when the extortion attempt commenced. “I’m at a place in my life where I feel like I have a target on my back. And because of that I should make smart decisions. And recently, I didn’t. You know, I’m not perfect," the star said in an emotional IG clip.

"I’m not going to sit up here and say that I am or claim to be in any way shape or form. And I made a bad error in judgement and I put myself in a bad environment where only bad things can happen and they did. And in doing that I know that I’m going to hurt the people closest to me, who’ve I talked to and apologized to, that would be my wife and my kids." See that clip below.
