Play-Doh Leads To Shoplifting Suspect Arrest

It's not exactly the bright lights and dazzling technologies you see on most procedural crime dramas, but a little good ol' fashion police work is all one Massachusetts Police Department needed to catch a shoplifting suspect. 

Well, good ol' fashion police work and some Play-Doh. 

About six months ago, Leicester police were called to a WalMart after an employee discovered someone attempted to remove several anti-theft devices from some electronic devices. Unfortunately for the shoplifter, there's a reason why master criminals do not use Play-Doh for their heists, and he was forced to flee after his cunning plan failed. 

Police said the suspect left his Play-Doh behind, along with a very nice fingerprint in the yellow and red clay that the Connecticut Crime lab was able to use to match to a suspect. 

On Monday, police announced they found the alleged shoplifter, charging 55-year-old Dennis Jackson with the crime. Jackson was charged with the unlawful removal of an anti-theft device and will be arraigned in the near future. Leicester Police say he has a long criminal record and has arrest warrants in at least two other states. 

Jackson remains in jail, and court records do not specify whether or not he had a lawyer.
