A Little Caesars employee shot and killed a man who tried to ambush the worker while wearing a clown mask in Florida Saturday night.

According to the Holly Hill Police Department, the attacker donned a clown mask and attacked the Little Caesar's employee with a piece of wood and a pair of scissors, repeatedly bashing the employee with the wooden board. When the worker fell to the ground, the attacker attempted to stab him with a pair of scissors.

Police say that's when the employee withdrew a concealed firearm, and fired four to five shots at his attacker. Authorities found the bleeding man in the parking lot of the Holly Hill Little Caesars location, while still wearing the clown mask. The attacker was later pronounced dead at a hospital in nearby Daytona Beach.

The victim suffered minor injuries, but was otherwise OK, police said. He has not been charged for his part in the altercation.

Police say security cameras caught the masked man lurking near the restaurant waiting for the employee. Holly Hill Police Chief Stephen Aldrich told Fox 51 that the attack was very unusual for this area.

"We're obviously aggressively pursuing this to find out where this individual came from and why this attack occurred. Very unusual," said Aldrich.

The attacker has not been identified yet by police.
