Why Did Camila Cabello Delete Social Media Off Her Phone?

Don't expect to see Camila Cabello aimlessly scrolling down social media timelines any time soon because the pop star doesn't even have those apps on her phone, as per her new July 2018 cover story with Cosmopolitan.

"I try to protect myself as much as I can," the 21-year-old singer said of coping with the negative aspects of fame. "I don't have any social media on my phone. I have it on my mom's phone, so if there's anything I want to say or if I want to read through what my fans are sending me, I can. It has made a world of difference." Cabello, who is currently on the road with Charli XCX as opening acts for Taylor Swift's "reputation Stadium Tour," went on to admit that if you have access to social media all the time, "there's a huge chance you're going to come across something that really hurts your feelings." Unfortunately, for the star, that kind of observation is simply "impossible to forget."

Elsewhere in the interview, the pop darling revealed just when her friendship with Taylor Swift started and it dated back to one of her first appearances at the MTV Video Music Awards. "We met like four years ago at the VMAs. I went up to her and Lorde, and I was like 'I just want to say that I really look up to you guys,'" she recalled. "We've been friends ever since. She's one of the people who made me want to start songwriting. I love her. She's been a great friend, very caring."

Cabello's new interview with Cosmopolitan arrived just a few weeks after the star graced the cover of Cosmopolitan U.K. and opened up about living with OCD.
