Shots were fired at Chicago rapper Chief Keef in New York City this weekend (June 2), and thankfully, the shooter(s) missed.
TMZ reports that Keef was just outside of the W Hotel in Times Square -- a very busy tourist area in the city -- early in the morning at around 6 AM, and that police are now looking for two black males dressed in black hoodies, who reportedly fled the scene of the shooting. A shell casing was discovered in the area.
Sources tell TMZ that the shooters missed Chief Keef, but hit the hotel's signage. The rapper was heading back to the hotel after a night out when the shots were fired at him. It is not yet known how many shots the shooters took, or the identity of the shooter(s).
Less than two hours before the shooting, Keef had posted a photo of himself in front of NYC's Papaya Hotdog restaurant along with the caption, "I’m Hungry 4:16am."
Keef has recently been involved in a social media feud with Tekashi69, however TMZ reports the shooting and the feud are not connected at this time, as 6ix9ine is currently in Los Angeles, where he was thought to be involved in a shooting outside of a recording studio with Fetty Wap's entourage, which Tekashi denied on Ingstagram.
The Brooklyn rapper posted an Instagram video on May 31st (interestingly around 48 hours before the shots were taken at Keef in NYC), alleging Chief Keef had 48 hours to kill him. He said, "Nobody give a f*** about what y’all n***** did three years ago. I don’t think y’all understand what I was talking about in my last video. What y’all did four years ago, three years ago in livin’ y’all raps, you don’t do. I know that personally. What y’all going to give me 48 hours? When? When am I going to die? F*** Chief Keef. F*** Lil Reese. F*** all them n*****."
And he captioned the video, "IF I DONT DIE IN 48HRS YALL P**** FOREAL ‼️ READ ABOUT WHAT HAPPEN WHEN N***** BEEF WIT US."
