The British actress who played the first Bond girl and was also the first Bond girl to appear in two different 007 films, Eunice Gayson, has died at 90 her publicist confirmed.

The news was posted to Gayson's official Twitter feed on Saturday.

We are very sad to learn that our dear Eunice passed away on June 8th. An amazing lady who left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She will be very much missed.

Bond producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Brocoli also issued a statement.

“We are so sad to learn that Eunice Gayson, our very first 'Bond girl' who played Sylvia Trench in DR. NO and FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE has passed away. Our sincere thoughts are with her family.”

Gayson's first appearance in the Bond franchise would lead to the series' most iconic lines. During a scene at the Le Cercle Club, her character met with Sean Connery's Bond over a game of cards. After Bond suggests raising the stakes, "I admire your courage Miss, err...?" to which she replies, "Trench. Sylvia Trench. I admire your luck Mr...?"

Connery's response: "Bond. James Bond."

Her character makes another brief appearance during From Russia With Love, with Trench supposed to become a reoccurring character in the series. That idea was squashed by Goldfinger director Guy Hamilton.

She went on to star in several other TV series, including The Saint and The Avengers.
