Black Bear Sighting In Westerly

(Westerly, RI)  --  The Westerly Police Department is warning about a black bear visiting the area. Authorities posted a picture of the bear on Facebook on Saturday night and said it was seen roaming the Narragansett Avenue area of the town. The police department says if you see the bear, do not approach it, and contact either the Westerly PD or the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management. Residents are also being encouraged to remove any outside bird feeders and ensure garbage is secured in covered cans.
