Ariana Grande has defended her fiancé Pete Davidson after one of his old jokes about the Manchester bombing, which took place at the end of the pop star's May 22, 2017 concert set, resurfaced in late June.

"I respect Ariana and I want her to be happy and everything, but she was just broken after the Manchester bombing, so I don’t know why she is still with Pete, like yeah he made that joke a while ago, but like it's not funny, it's just rude. This is my opinion," @ariissalegend tweeted on Wednesday (July 4). Once the 25-year-old singer got wind of the message, she made sure to speak her mind on the matter, describing the situation as "v tough" and "conflicting on [her] heart."

"He uses comedy to help ppl feel better ab how f***ed up things in this world are. We all deal w trauma differently. I, of course, didn't find it funny. it was months ago & his intention wasn’t/ is never malicious but it was unfortunate," she replied.

In case you missed out, months after a suicide bomber killed 22 people and injured over 800 others at Grande's "Dangerous Woman Tour" stop in Manchester, England, Davidson joked about the tragedy during his stand-up show at the Laugh Factory in Los Angeles. During the set, which was in support of Puerto Rico, the Saturday Night Live star remarked that Grande must now know how famous she's gotten because "Britney Spears didn't have a terrorist attack at her concert."
