A newlywed couple's honeymoon took a tragic turn during an excursion in Honduras. Egael Tishman and his wife, Shif Fanken, were on the Royal Caribbean cruise ship Allure of the Seas celebrating their marriage when they decided to go zip-lining across the treetops in Roatan, a popular tourist destination.
Fanken went down the line first and got stuck in middle. As she came to a stop, Tishman was right behind her and the two collided because he was unable to stop in time.
In the collision, both Tishman and Fanken suffered serious injuries, including broken ribs, but were conscious when they were rushed to a local hospital. Tishman passed away later that night in the hospital, possibly due to a brain aneurysm. Fanken was airlifted to a hospital in Fort Lauderdale, Florida for further treatment.
According to the Daily Mail, the Honduran tourism board said that the staff followed all the proper safety procedures and suggested the accident was caused by "incorrect operation" by the couple. Authorities continue to investigate what caused the tragic accident.
