Young Boy Discovers Murdered Family When He Shows Up For Sleepover

A young boy made a grisly discovery after he was dropped off for a sleepover at a friend's house. Police said when the boy went inside he found the bodies of Matthew Edwards and Edwards' wife Julie along with their young children, ages 6, 4, and 3. Authorities believe that Matthew shot his wife and kids and then turned the gun on himself. 

Julie's friend, Brianna Horney, told Delaware Online that the couple was "estranged" and that Matthew had recently moved out of the home after getting a job in North Carolina. When she heard the news of what happened, Horney said that she "utterly collapsed in tears."

"Julie lived for her kids. They were her life, her world. She was the type of friend who would stop and help whenever she could," Horney said, "especially in the special needs community."

A GoFundMe page was set up to help cover the cost of the funerals for the family.
