The Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department, says that an Illinois woman suffered serious injuries when she was struck by lightning early Friday morning while attending the Country Thunder Festival in Wisconsin.

The concertgoer, later identified as 22-year-old Brittney N. Prehn was holding her cellphone when a bolt of lightning struck her in the ear and ran through her body.

Kayla Byrne, who was also attending the festival, caught the moment on video while taking cover from the powerful storm under a nearby tent before finding Prehn unconscious and bleeding from the ear.

Byrne describes the scene to WISN as "She was laying on her stomach completely unresponsive, but she did have a pulse."

Prehn was taken to Northern Illinois Medical Center in McHenry, where she received initial treatment for what authorities characterized as "serious injuries."
