20 Years Ago Today: Garth Brooks Reigns #1 With 'Make You Feel My Love'

It’s a familiar love song that is often found at the pinnacle of numerous lists. Newlyweds have been selecting this love-soaked narrative as their first dance, country fans have been spotted dancing slow and close inside of colossal arenas, and media outlets have included the famed ballad on almost every “Greatest Love Song” segment.
Today, we celebrate humanity’s love of love and another Garth Brooks milestone.
It was 20-years-ago exactly that Garth Brooks soared to the top of the charts claiming the number one spot with his Bob Dylan cover. Garth’s version of the song was featured in the film Hope Floats and was recorded as a duet with Trisha Yearwood.
Song Fact: “Make You Feel My Love,” was originally written by Bob Dylan for his 1997 album, Time Out Of Mind. Billy Joel quickly snagged the track, making a slight tweak to the title, calling it “To Make You Feel My Love.” Joel then recorded and released the song for commercial use on his Greatest Hits III album. Dylan’s version wasn’t released until later that same year.
