YouTube Won't Ban Severely Underweight Beauty Blogger

There are many beauty bloggers on YouTube, and quite a few have over one million subscribers, but an incredibly popular one has parents very upset. Her name is Eugenia Cooney and the 24-year-old uses her channel to talk about fashion, hair, makeup and more with her 1.4 million followers, but one thing she doesn't seem to discuss is her weight, which looks dangerously low - so much so that there have been petitions to have her videos pulled because of the messages they might send to kids.

One petition racked up 20,000 signatures but YouTube didn't act on it. In response, Eugenia said in a video, "Some people are saying I'm like a bad influence on girls. I just want you guys to know like I have seriously never have tried to be a bad influence on YouTube or to influence anyone badly. I would never want to do that. I have never told anyone to try to like lose weight or to try to like change the way they look or to look like me."

This past week, YouTube did decide to remove one of Eugenia's videos and placed a strike against her account. Even though the comments on most of her videos show concern about her weight, and likely the vid was reported because of that, Cooney couldn't understand why her latest episode would've been pulled.

In fact, after a review, YouTube removed the strike and re-uploaded the video. Eugenia recently addressed some personal issues in a video called "The Real Me," but spends the entire clip dancing around her weight and instead describes how people comment about her emo style and her makeup.

While there are many people concerned with Eugenia's weight, there are just as many fans who idolize her, which could be problematic:

For now, YouTube will continue to run Eugenia's videos since she hasn't done anything wrong, but parents are still fighting to have her channel shut down. See more from her here
