HGTV says they've closed sale on the "Brady Bunch" home located in Studio City, California for $3.5 million. That's twice the asking price the sellers were looking for ($1.885 million).

In a second-quarter earnings call last week, David Zaslav, the CEO of HGTV's parent company Discovery, announced the network had made the winning bid, and had planned a new show that would revitalize the iconic sitcom home back to its "1970's glory."

“More detail to come over the next few months, but we’ll bring all the resources to bear to tell safe, fun stories with this beloved piece of American TV history,” he said.

HGTV made the big bid over a series of other interested parties, including former *NSYNC singer, Lance Bass, who had offered the sellers just under $3 million for the property TMZ reports. At first, Bass was disappointed losing his bid, tweeting that he was "heartbroken" after learning he lost the iconic home to a big Hollywood studio, but that seemed to pass by Tuesday.

The *NSYNC star tweeted that he was OK with HGTV buying the property saying, "how can you be mad at HGTV?? I’d be pretty upset if it were anyone else … Kudos, HGTV, I know you will do the right thing with the house.”

The exact type of show HGTV has planned for the home was not explained, but Lance Bass said producers have reached out to him to participate in the show.

HGTV is already promoting their "Big Project" on Facebook Tuesday morning, posting a video of the home in the classic 70's sitcom style.

“Guess who has a big project planned for this iconic ‘70s TV home? Watch for more clues, coming soon,” the network wrote.

The 2,477 square-foot home was used by producers to shoot exterior establishing shots for the popular 70's sitcom. The property is located on nearly a third of an acre and is listed as having three bedrooms, and three bathrooms. Only the exterior of the home appeared on the show. Indoor scenes were shot at a studio.

No word on whether Sam the Butch will be included in the sale.
