Ben Affleck Enters Rehab For Third Time: Report

Ben Affleck is heading back to rehab.

TMZ broke the news Wednesday (August 22) after learning Affleck's ex-wife, Jennifer Garner, staged an intervention at the Gone Girl actor's Pacific Palisades home last night. Garner supposedly pleaded with him to seek help, but the 46-year-old was needed little convincing to comply.

The Peppermint star was photographed driving Affleck to a rehab facility in Los Angeles County when she stopped at a local Jack in the Box with another unidentified woman in the passenger's seat. It was later learned that he'd arrived at a live-in rehab center at approximately 7:20 p.m. where he will check in for an extended period of time.

According to the outlet, Garner stepped into the picture after images surfaced of her estranged husband receiving an alcohol delivery at his residence in Brentwood, California Monday (August 20).

This is the third time Affleck has sought treatment for his addiction.

In 2001, he finished his first 30-day residential rehab program for alcohol abuse as a "pre-emptive strike" given his father Tim's chronic past with alcoholism. The performer completed his second program last year, revealing on Facebook that he'd been undergoing "treatment for alcohol addiction; something I've dealt with in the past and will continue to confront."

The Oscar-winning filmmaker's treatment has been ongoing since.

A source of Garner's told PEOPLE the actress, who shares three children with Affleck, is merely concerned about her spouse's "sobriety and whether she can rely on him to co-parent."

Garner separated from Affleck in 2015 after 10 years of marriage and subsequently filed for divorce in 2017.
