Kristen Stewart is dishing all about the Charlie's Angels reboot.
In an exclusive interview with Entertainment Tonight Thursday (August 23), the 28-year-old actress talked of the training that went into her butt-kicking new role in the Elizabeth Banks-helmed remake and how it intends to deviate from the 2000 original.
When asked how she felt about the forthcoming effort receiving blessings from one of the franchise's original angels, Lucy Liu, who said the relaunch will be a "positive result for women," Stewart replied, "Oh, that is really cool that she said that."
"It is true I think, it is not maybe everyone's immediate response that it would be, like, something we would have to see again because the one I grew up with was so much fun, and you know, the re-imagining is so grounded and well-intentioned and really shows the way women can work together now."
The Twilight fave was revealed as one of the three highly-skilled agents earlier this month, alongside Naomi Scott and Ella Balinska.
As with most promising revivals, of course, this new era flick aims to set itself apart from its primaries. For instance, Bosley, a character originated by men, will be fulfilled by Banks herself.
Don't worry, though, the new installment isn't looking to replace the legacy: "We are not trying to do an impression of the last one," Stewart explained, "so yeah, I think Liz is like so genuinely naturally funny all the time anyway."
Another aspect she discusses in her sit-down is the level of intense physical preparation involved in her new role, which Stewart says she's come to enjoy. "I have been boxing a bit, which I have never done. I am so addicted to it," she said.
"As soon as I have to actually start sparring though, I realize what I am doing is intended to fight people. I am like, it really is assaulting and I really hate it. But all I am doing lately is talking to Liz, and can't wait to meet the other girls and I leave on Sunday ... gonna start doing more fight training, getting more aggressive quite soon."
