A GoFundMe campaign titled "Hero Punches Pedophile" raised more than $11,000 in less than 48 hours for a man who was arrested for slugging a sex offender who was being sentenced for filming a 14-year-old girl while exited a shower.

According to the Mail Tribune of Medford, Kevin Patrick Smith, 45, leaned over a railing inside a Medford courtroom and punched the defendant, Donald Courtney Biggs, 40, in the face while Biggs' defense attorney was telling the judge his client regretted his actions.

Biggs reportedly landed on the floor, curling up into the fetal position after he was hit, the paper reported.

The GoFundMe campaign was started shortly after Smith's arrest, with an initially stated goal of $5,000. It's now raised more than $11,000 as of Saturday afternoon.

Biggs, a former youth pastor in Medford, was arrested by police after a burglary at the church where he worked led investigators to discover a collection of hidden-camera recordings involving dozens of young victims. The videos found there reportedly showed dozens of juveniles undressing, showering, and even using the bathroom inside Biggs' home, on church trips, and at summer camps, the U.S. Attorney's Office says.

Biggs pleaded guilty to one felony count of transporting with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity. His sentencing was postponed following the attack, the Mail Tribune reported. He faces up to to nearly 16 years in prison.

Smith, a father of two victims, faces a misdemeanor charge of obstructing governmental or judicial administration, fourth-degree assault and disorderly conduct. He was being held at the Jackson County Jail on $12,500 bail according to court records.
