The 'Maverick' is getting his own mural in Scottsdale, Arizona.  Arizona Senator John McCain passed away at his home in Sedona, Arizona on Saturday August 25th in the late afternoon. He was 81 years old. Now, a commemorative mural of the late Sen. John McCain is coming to Old Town Scottsdale.

According to Fox 10 Phoenix article,

"The mural will be created on the north elevation fo the 4235 N. Marshall Way building and will pull from the halftone printing process used to print newspapers since the 1800s. The concept stems from  a re-imagination and interpretation of a Nigel Parry portrait of Senator McCain."

McCain was diagnosed with glioblastoma brain cancer in July 2017, and was undergoing various treatments, including both chemotherapy and radiation over the last year up until Friday when his family announced that the senator was discontinuing treatment.

Many residents are excited for the new mural to take form and looking forward to seeing his legacy live on.
