John McCain died Saturday afternoon August 25th at the age of 81 at his home in Sedona after a battle with an aggressive form of brain cancer. Arizona residents are now mourning the death of the man they called 'The Maverick' by giving flowers, personal notes, American flags and posters at a makeshift memorial outside the mortuary he was brought to in Phoenix, Arizona.

Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey tweeted Sunday morning that U.S. Sen. John McCain will lie in state at the Arizona Capitol this Wednesday August 29th. This Wednesday would have been McCain's 82nd birthday.

The Governor's tweet says:

“This is a rare and distinct occurrence for a truly special man,” the governor said in a statement posted on Twitter. “John McCain is Arizona, and we will honor his life every way we can.”
