Sarah Palin had nothing but praise for the late Senator John McCain in an interview with the Daily Mail, but she was not a fan of the people who surrounded him. She told the news outlet that during the 2008 presidential election when she ran on the Republican ticket with McCain, many of the people working on the campaign "weren't serving him well."
"I think that's unfortunate because he had some strange people around him and..disloyal people, and you know, I don't say that as like hate speech or griping about it, it's just a fact they were just some not nice people."
Palin said that despite the negativity, she had a great time on the campaign trail with McCain and his family.
"Cindy [McCain] holding Trig, his sons who were so nice and great to my kids, and my kids getting along well with their family. I'll remember the good times that's for darn sure. And I won't re-hash the strange times that happened after the campaign that some of his people orchestrated."
Palin said that McCain will be remembered as an American hero for all the sacrifices he made during his military service.
"The physical and mental hell he went through in service to our country. I don't put up with it when people - in our own party even - want to keep criticizing him even invoking his military service. "
Senator McCain passed away at his home in Sedona, Arizona on Saturday (August 25) after a battle with glioblastoma brain cancer. He was 81-years-old.
