Ed Sheeran has kept fans in the dark about whether he and fiancee Cherry Seaborn wed in secret after announcing their engagement in January.
The "Shape of You" crooner (sort of) put curious minds to rest while speaking about his upcoming documentary, Songwriter, in an exclusive sit-down with Entertainment Online Monday (August 27).
When ET's Keltie Knight grilled the 27-year-old about comments he made during a recent Instagram Q&A that implied he and Seaborn have already tied the knot, Sheeran returned the question with no more than a shrug and an awkward smirk. (Signs of secret marriage guilt, perhaps?!)
It was speculated he'd already tied the knot when images of the star sporting a silver band on his ring finger hit the web in February. However, it was just a custom item made by Seaborn herself.
While remaining firmly vague on the subject, the artist did confirm a few other aspects about his walk down the aisle — which he may or may not have done already — like that he nor any of his famous friends will sing at the ceremony. Sheeran says an "unknown" singer will do the honors.
Also, we shouldn't anticipate the attendance to be anything of the Royal Wedding variety. The "Happier" star considers small, intimate weddings to offer better vibes. "I don't like large groups of people at the best of times," he explained, "So I never wanted a wedding that was loads of people."
The Grammy winner, who has always been guarded about his personal life, later addressed the strange criticisms he faced for his new doc (which is literally titled after and based on his songwriting) not having more intimate bits with him and Seaborn.
"It doesn't say 'Ed Sheeran: The Life and Times Of,' it says 'Ed Sheeran: Songwriter,'" he said. "So having Cherry in it didn't seem like it fit for me, but it does, in the grand scheme of things."
Sheeran and Seaborn had been childhood friends and classmates in high school before they began dating officially in July 2015.
